When you play an embedded video

Videos on this site come from YouTube. When a video loads or plays, YouTube (Google) may receive your IP address and set cookies on your device. See the Cookie Policy and YouTube’s own privacy information.

3. Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal data. We use the following service providers (“processors”), who handle data only on our instructions and under data protection terms:

  • WordPress.com (Automattic), which hosts the website and stores contact form messages and site statistics.
  • Calendly, for booking calls.
  • Google, for our email and site traffic statistics (Google Workspace and Google Analytics) and for YouTube embeds.
  • Stripe, for payments.
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram), for embedded content.

We may also share data with professional advisers, or where the law requires it.

4. Transfers outside the EU

Some of these providers are based outside the European Economic Area, for example in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on a European Commission adequacy decision (such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for certified providers) or on Standard Contractual Clauses, to protect your data.

5. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected
  • ask us to erase your data
  • ask us to restrict how we use it
  • receive the data you gave us in a portable format
  • object to our use of it, including for marketing
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it

To use any of these rights, email dev@theplantstalk.com. We will reply within one month. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority in the country where you live or work, or where you believe a problem occurred.

6. Children

This website is not aimed at anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has given us data, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your data. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Cookies

We explain the cookies and similar technologies we use in our Cookie Policy.

9. Automated decisions

We do not make decisions about you by automated means.

Cookie Policy

Last updated: 18th October 2026

This policy explains how The Plants Talk uses cookies and similar technologies on theplantstalk.com. It should be read with our Privacy Policy.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help a site work, remember your choices and show the owner how it is used. Similar technologies, such as local storage and tracking pixels, do the same job and are covered here too.

2. The cookies we use

Essential cookies

These keep the website secure and working, for example for page loading, security checks and contact forms. They do not need your consent.

Statistics cookies

WordPress.com and Jetpack collect statistics about how visitors use the site, such as which pages are viewed. We also use Google Analytics to monitor site traffic. We use this to improve the site, not to identify you.

Embedded content

Some pages show content from other services, which may set their own cookies when the content loads or plays:

  • YouTube (Google), for the videos on the Videos page and elsewhere.
  • Calendly, for booking a call. Facebook and Instagram (Meta), for any embedded posts or feeds.

Marketing cookies

We do not run advertising of our own. Facebook, Instagram and YouTube content embedded on our pages may set their own tracking cookies when it loads or plays.

3. Your choices

Under EU rules we need your consent for cookies that are not essential. When you first visit, a banner tells you that we use cookies and asks for your consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting the cookies stored by this site in your browser settings.

You can also control or delete cookies in your browser. How to do that depends on the browser, and each one explains it in its help pages (Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge all do). If you block cookies, some parts of the site, such as embedded videos or booking, may not work properly.

4. How long cookies last

  • Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies stay until they expire or you delete them. Most last between 30 days and 1 year but may vary.

Third parties set their own lifetimes. See their cookie policies for details.

5. Changes

We may update this policy as the site or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
